Maharashtra Government Clears Recruitment of 8,669 Posts After 23-Year Wait in Women and Child Development Department

After 23 years, Maharashtra has approved 8,669 regular posts in its Women and Child Development Department, along with 2,843 outsourced positions and 2,21,328 Anganwadi posts under the ICDS scheme.

Mumbai: After a gap of 23 years, the Maharashtra government has cleared the way for large-scale recruitment in its Women and Child Development Department, approving the filling of 8,669 regular posts. The decision is expected to strengthen the department's administrative capacity and accelerate the implementation of various welfare schemes for women and children across the state.

Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare announced the decision, describing the recruitment drive as a major step towards strengthening the department. She said the large-scale recruitment would bring significant changes to the department's functioning and improve the pace of its operations.

As part of the restructuring exercise, the department has abolished outdated posts and created 165 new positions required for modern administrative operations. Following this restructuring, the total number of sanctioned posts in the department has increased to 8,669.

In addition to regular recruitment, administrative approval has also been granted to fill 2,843 posts through external agencies (outsourcing). The move is aimed at improving the efficiency of day-to-day administrative work and ensuring that departmental operations are carried out more effectively.
